Description	:	Joan Wescott, 73, of El Dorado, died Sunday, Dec. 31, 2006 at Susan B. Allen Memorial Hospital. Services are 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 4, at Carlson Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Walnut Valley Memorial Park. Visitation with the family will be Wednesday from 6 - 8 p.m. at the funeral home. She was born Jan. 9, 1933 in Emporia, the daughter of Roy E. and Nola Lambert Cox. She married Charles R. Wescott on Dec. 31, 1949 in Emporia. He preceded her in death on Dec. 29, 1994. Joan worked as a cook in restaurants and was a wonderful homemaker. She had lived in El Dorado since 1980, moving from Towanda. She was a member of the V. F. W. Auxiliary and loved to play bingo and do crafts and watch tv. She especially loved to cook and spend time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In her younger days she enjoyed boating and spending time on the water. Survivors include her children: Karen Arnold of El Dorado, Larry Wescott of Winfield, Leorna Kastner, John Wescott, Patricia Hess and Shelly Wheeler all of El Dorado, nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and a granddaughter, Amy. Friends may call at Carlson Funeral Home who has the arrangements. (El Dorado Times, January 3, 2007)
