After attending school in Jefferson County Iowa, she went to Ottumwa Heights Academy. In 1957, she married her husband, Thomas. She worked for a number of years as a Radiology Technician and after having children, stayed home to care for her family. In more recent years, she supported her husband in his real estate career.
