JoAnn passed away Thursday, October 27, 2016, at Avera St. Anthony’s Hospital in O’Neill. JoAnn Loretta Peters was born on February 12, 1936, at Chambers, NE, to Joseph and Elizabeth (Belik) Peters. She attended Holt County country school and then attended St. Mary’s Academy. Later, JoAnn worked at a café in Clearwater. She met Gary Sanders and they were married in Norfolk, NE, on July 19, 1958. After they were married, they lived in Inman for a short time before moving to O’Neill. They later moved to the farm near Spencer in 1984. JoAnn worked at Olsen’s in Atkinson, cleaned houses and worked at the Super 8. She retired in 1990. JoAnn and Gary raised exotic animals, mainly birds. They also loved raising emus, bunnies, goats, chickens, and horses over the years. She liked to make Pheasant Dolls and practice Taxidermy. She enjoyed being creative by painting saws and mailboxes, and she loved to go for motorcycle rides. JoAnn is survived by her husband of 58 years, Gary Sanders of Spencer; one daughter, Tina Christensen and husband Bruce of Harlan, IA; four grandchildren, Tabitha Ludwig and husband Jason, Tammi Thompson and husband Matt, Ashley Bruck and husband Paul, Alison King and husband Shane; 12 Great Grandchildren, Carter, Jolie, Braden, Emily, Halle, Caden, Evan, Camden, Kenzley, Cohen, Kipton, Keeley; and one brother, Larry Peters and wife Carla of Arkansas. She was preceded in death by her parents. . .
