Tesina was born on April 14, 1941, on the family farm near Ulysses, Nebraska to Joseph F. and Ann B. (Kobza) Makovicka and passed away on July 24, 2012 in Omaha, Nebraska at the age of 71 years, 3 months, 10 days. JoAnn was a 1958 graduate of Assumption High School in Dwight and attended Omaha School of Business in 1959 and also worked as a nanny during that time. She later worked for Senator Carl Curtis and for Northern Natural Gas. After moving to Lincoln she worked at Consumers. On December 28, 1961, JoAnn was united in marriage to James John Tesina at Assumption Catholic Church in Dwight. After their marriage they moved to the Sandhills of Nebraska where Jim worked on two ranches before moving back to Bee, NE where they purchased the farm in 1966. Their marriage was blessed with three children, Kimberly, Linda and Kenneth. JoAnn was a wife, mother and homemaker while the children were at home and later she worked for Shanahan's and Falcon Heating and Air Conditioning in Lincoln retiring in 2003. JoAnn was a member of Dwight Assumption Catholic Church and Altar Society, Women's Extension Club, the Polled Hereford Association, Dwight American Legion Post #110 Auxiliary and a former member of St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Bee. JoAnn enjoyed gardening, spending time with their children and grandchildren, hunting, fishing, camping, horseback riding, dancing, hummingbirds and cardinals and listening to country and Czech music. Her treasured accomplishment in life was finding the love of her life and raising her family. JoAnn's advice to friends and family ~ always be kind...don't be snippy - it doesn't get you anywhere...be loving and help others when they need it. JoAnn is preceded in death by her husband, James J. Tesina on February 8, 2012; her parents, Joseph and Ann Makovicka; her sister, Marlene Debus; father-in-law, Emil Tesina, Sr.; brother-in-law, Emil Tesina, Jr.; sister-in-law, Jeanette Semin; nephew, Michael Makovicka. Those left to cherish and love her memory include her children, Kimberly A. Cochran, Seward and Al Irish; Linda M. and Steven Leichner, Garland, Kenneth J. Tesina and significant other Bettina M. Runge, Bee; grandchildren, Ashley and Jason Kilker, Jessica Cochran, Benjamin Cochran, Savannah Tesina, Talon Tesina, Samuel Leichner; brothers and sisters-in-law, Valerian and Janice Makovicka, John and Connie Makovicka; sister and brother-in-law, Judith Makovicka and Kevin McGrath; mother-in-law, Rose M. Tesina; brothers-in-law, Gene Debus and Al Semin; sister-in-law, Pauline Tesina; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Rosmarie Tesina and Dennis Mehrhoff; numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews and a host of friends.
