Description	:	Joanna Mae Farley Born Feb. 1, 1871, in Nokomis, Ill., Mrs. Farley came to Lamoni at the age of 28, bringing with her four small children. Having lost her husband, her greatest desire was to make a home where there was an RLDS church and to educate her family. Having no means of support, she began doing housework. In addition,... Read More	Joanna Mae Farley Born Feb. 1, 1871, in Nokomis, Ill., Mrs. Farley came to Lamoni at the age of 28, bringing with her four small children. Having lost her husband, her greatest desire was to make a home where there was an RLDS church and to educate her family. Having no means of support, she began doing housework. Then about 1904, she started a little bakery in a building on Maple street where the Lamoni Laundry is now located. She baked as many as 200 loaves of bread daily as well as cakes, cookies, and pies. In addition, she also served meals to many college students. In 1910, however, she suffered a heat stroke and had to give up her bakery. Mrs. Farley had lived many years in Monterey Park, Calif., close to her two daughters, Ida Mae Boyd and Maud Ulery. She also leaves a son, Dr. Mibor Case of Chicago, four grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson. One son, Lyman, was killed in action in 1918 in World War 1. Funeral services were held Dec. 11 at Stewart Funeral home in Lamoni with interment in Rose Hill cemetery, Lamoni.
