"Joanne H. Marquis, 71, died Sunday evening, March 10, 2013, at Agrace HospiceCare in Madison, Wis. She was born Dec. 29, 1941, in Oak Park, Ill. to G. Adeline (Hill) and George W. Marquis Sr. She attended elementary school in McCallsburg and Nevada, Joliet, Ill. and Lockpoprt, Ill., attended junior high school in Joliet, Ill., and attended Joliet Township High School, Joliet, Ill., and Freeport High School (class of 1961) Freeport, Ill. Joanne had previously worked at Osco Drug, Microswitch, GC Electronics, Burgess Battery and APCO. Joanne moved from Brodhead, Wis. to Janesville, Wis. in 1983. Joanne is survived by her two sons, Jesse J. Marquis, of Hartland, Wis. and Brian A. Marquis, of Janesville, Wis.; her mother, Adeline Fincham, of Story City; one brother, George (Judy) Marquis, of East Peoria, Ill.; one sister, Adrienne Houdeshell, of Rockford, Ill.; two aunts, Helen Zook, of Story City and Marcella Hill, of McCallsburg; one step-brother, Bruce Biggs, of Marengo, Ill.; four nephews, Jeff, Paul, Mike and Charlie; two great-nephews; two great-nieces; one great-great nephew; several cousins and her beloved cat, Boo-Boo. Joanne was preceded in death by her father, George W. Marquis Sr.; maternal grandparents, Albert and Minnie (Hegerland) Hill; paternal grandparents, Henry and Anna (Pisvejc) Marquis; two step-fathers, Jameson H. Biggs and Owen D. Fincham; great-grandfather, Mikkel Hegerland; brother-in-law, Richard R. Houdeshell; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Joanne will be remembered for her humor and love and compassion for animals, especially cats. The family would like to thank the caring staff at Agrace HospiceCare for the compassionate care they gave to Joanne. Memorials in Joanne's name can be made to Agrace HospiceCare or the Rock County (Wis.) Humane Society. A graveside service will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, March 16, 2013, in Warren Township Cemetery in McCallsburg. Pastor Tom Poppe of the McCallsburg Presbyterian Church, McCallsburg will officiate. The Henke-Clarson Funeral Home, Janesville, Wis. and the Fredregill Funeral Home, Zearing are assisting the family."
