Joanne’s great grandchildren are Jack, Dylan & Molly (Heimbuch) and Avery (Craft). Joanne was the last surviving of 6 sisters and one of only a few surviving of the 9 siblings and their loving spouses of her generation on Clifford’s side of the family. Joanne was born in Indianapolis, Indiana on June 9, 1930, lived in Vancouver, Washington for 34 years, and spent her last five years near family in Hawaii. Joanne served in many positions during her 85 years of life, but her most cherished roles were navy wife and mother. She was on her own for long lengths of time with her children, and during that time Joanne held everything together at home while also serving in countless volunteer positions; however she was a professional as well (bookkeeper, IRS agent, executive secretary, and so much more), even serving a short stint in the Waves. Joanne served her country her entire life, as her father was also in the navy, but her role as navy wife and mom should never be taken lightly. Not just any person (woman or man) has the strength and fortitude for this type of service, but Joanne most certainly did. She was one of the few who served exceptionally well, even under the most difficult of circumstances! Indeed, Joanne may not be famous or have a fortune to her name, but all her loved ones consider themselves so very fortunate and blessed to have known her true light before dementia with Lewey bodies robbed her of so much of the wonderful lady we knew before. Joanne was the most vibrant, kind, graceful, and giving woman, and she was also a voracious fighter all through to the end, so we still experienced golden moments now and then wherein we saw little glimpses of her beautiful self shine through for all to see. We will all miss her dearly, but we have faith that she’s at peace now and with the man she never forgot despite all the disease took from her. Joanne’s many loved ones will always cherish the treasured memories shared with her, as the bright light of joy she brought into every room she entered will never fade away in our hearts and minds.
