Named for her two grandmothers, Josephine Frost and Annie Harris, born on May 21, 1932 she was the eldest daughter of the late Emma Harris Frost and Edward Marshall Frost. Named for her two grandmothers, Josephine Frost and Annie Harris, born on May 21, 1932 she was the eldest daughter of the late Emma Harris Frost and Edward Marshall Frost. Joanne faced many challenges with courage, uncomplaining adaption, and cheerful bravery; polio and a recent stroke, among other difficulties. Joanne's sweetness and selfless love were gifts to all. Always with a beautiful smile and cheery personality, she enjoyed parties, people, the beach, fashion and sparkling jewelry. She was an avid reader and had a wide range of musical appetite which included "grand" opera, big band numbers, Lawrence Welk, and country music. She adored canaries and the dogs her sisters owned. Painting, knitting, and jigsaw puzzles were also some of her interests. Joanne was a honorary member of the Junior League of Lynchburg and a lifelong member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church. Joanne is survived by her two sisters, Jane Frost Bowden (Robert H. Bowden, Jr., M.D.) and Sally Frost George (Walter A. George, III) of Atlanta; special niece and namesake, Joanne Leigh George of Silver Spring, Md.; four nephews, Robert H. Bowden, III of Lynchburg, Edward Marshall Frost Bowden, of Richmond, James Adams Bowden, of Richmond and Walter Alexander George IV of Jackson, Miss. She also leaves 11 great-nieces and nephews to treasure her memory. She moved to Atlanta in 1985 and enjoyed her new relationships while living independently in a group home. She loved her job working in a day care center. Joanne moved to Heritage Green in 2007. Joanne has been graced with so many devoted angels; Susan Carol, of the music ministry therapy at St. Paul's, introduced her to the reverie harp, while Susan played her harp. Their association was so dear to Joanne; Genny Harris, who provided Joanne kindnesses with many met needs, constant caring and loving attention; Lin Vitale for her cheerful visits; the compassionate team at Centra Hospice; and the amazing and exceptional love of all the staff and aides at Heritage Green who made her feel so very special every day, especially, Vernice Hall and Cheryl Knight, The family is indebted and deeply grateful to these Angels for the care, comfort and love given to Joanne. Graveside services will be held at Spring Hill Cemetery on Saturday, November 17, 2018 at 1 p.m., with the Rev. Dr. Diane Vie, of St. Paul's Episcopal Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Paul's Episcopal Church.
