Died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Mary [Ameline Engstrom July 15, 1902 in Marshall Township] Taylor County. Married to Miss Polly J. [ane] Meeker, September 5, 1838. To this union were born eight children, six of which survive him. In his early married life he professed faith in Christ, and united with the Missionary Baptist church, and remained a faithful member to the end. Those who knew him loved him, and the great crowd of people who gathered to pay their last tribute to their friend was a fitting testimony of his worth as a friend and Christian gentleman. A good man has fallen but he shall rise in the bright eternity. The funeral services were conducted by the writer, at the New Hope church, Nodaway County, Mo., July 27th, and he was laid to rest in the church yard. A W. LOUDY. Nodaway County, Missouri burials gives the death date as July 15, 1902.] submitted by: Julia Johnson #47176433 -------------------------- wed Sep 5, 1838 Mary Meeker ------------------------------ data submitted by Carl Ingwalson I have been conducting Civil War research relating to the 21st Iowa Infantry for 25 years and purchased from the National Archives the military and pension records of Milo Dalton. He died with no widow or children, but his pension file includes affidavits documenting that Job and Mary Jane were his parents. Many years after Milo's death, Mary Jane applied for and received a pension as a dependent mother. When she died, Job applied for a dependent father's pension. The documents indicate they had other children, but does not give names. His burial location is not known, but he is listed as " Pvt. Milo Dalton" with a burial probably in the Vicksburg National Cemetery, Mississippi. I'm also providing information so that site can add a link to Job and Mary Jane. Thanks!
