Canter, age 81 of Elizabethton went home to be with the Lord, Friday, July 30, 2010 at the Johnson City Medical Center Hospital following an extended illness. A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late Hobart and Belle Landy Wilson. She was a homemaker and loved being a special mother and canning and working with her flowers. Canter, age 81 of Elizabethton went home to be with the Lord, Friday, July 30, 2010 at the Johnson City Medical Center Hospital following an extended illness. A native of Carter County, she was a daughter of the late Hobart and Belle Landy Wilson. She was a homemaker and loved being a special mother and canning and working with her flowers. She was of the Baptist faith. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Canter was preceded in death by her husband, Clifton Canter, April 13, 2002. Survivors include five sons, Larry Canter, Johnson City, Charles Canter, Roan Mountain, Norman Canter, Robert Canter, and Richard Canter all of Elizabethton, two daughters, Niokia Sue Canter, Elizabethton, Margaret Helen Clemons, Unicoi, 10 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren, two sisters, Ellen Canter and Ruth Nave, both of Elizabethton. Several nieces and nephews also survive. The funeral service will be conducted at 7 p.m. Sunday, August 1, 2010 in the Chapel of Peace at Tetrick Funeral Home with Dr. Ken Jordan officiating. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel on Sunday, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. prior to the service. Friends may also call at her residence at anytime. The graveside service and interment will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, August 2, 2010 at Pearl Bowers Cemetery with Rev. Darrell Holly officiating. Active pallbearers will be selected from family and friends. Honorary pallbearers will be friends and neighbors. Those who wish to attend the graveside service are ask to meet at the funeral home on Monday at 1:15 p.m. to go in procession to the cemetery.
