Read More	Jodi Beth Klusmann was born on July 21, 1964 in Rapid City, South Dakota, the daughter of Joel and Delphi (Gill) Klusmann. At one year of age she moved with her family to Lennox, South Dakota where she grew up. She graduated from Lennox High School with the Class of 1982. Music was a very important part of Jodi's life. During her high school years she sang with the Girl's Glee and Mixed Chorus. She also was an accompanist for various singing groups and she served, part time, as church organist at her home church, Lennox Ebenezer Presbyterian Church. She played french horn in the high school band and with the Lennox Municipal Band. She was the recipient of the Arian Award for her outstanding musical accomplishments during high school. She also was employed at Anthony's Bakery in Lennox. It was shortly following her graduation, at 17 years of age that Jodi was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. Her positive attitude, her determination, her inner strength and her faith were the factors that caused Jodi to persevere almost insurmountable odds. She graduated with honors from Augustana College in 1987, having struggled through several acute attacks of the M.S., resulting in her being confined to a wheelchair during her later years at Augie and continuing since that time. As a Music Education major at Augustana, she sang with the Concert Choir, accompanying them on concert tours to New York City and Houston, Texas, with various other stops on that tour. She also played keyboard with the "High Risk" band for several years. Following graduation from Augustana, Jodi accepted a teaching position in Bridgewater where she was the vocal music teacher. After two years she returned to Lennox where she taught private piano and vocal lessons in her home. In June of 1996 she moved to her apartment in Sioux Falls where she taught private lessons and also continued teaching at her parental home in Lennox. Jodi's love of music is going to live on in the students that she taught. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, John Gill, on February 20, 1978; her paternal grandparents, Wilbur Klusmann, on November 26, 1991 and Golde Klusmann, on November 30,1996. Due to being confined to a wheelchair Jodi developed several blood clots during the past months. It was the result of a pulmonary embolism that caused Jodi's sudden and unexpected death while enroute to Sioux Valley Hospital in Sioux Falls on Sunday afternoon, February 9, 1997. She attained the age of 32 years, six months and 18 days. Those most grateful for having shared her life are her fiancee' and best friend, Joe Ernst, of Sioux Falls; her Mom and Dad, Delphi and Joel; her brother and sister in-law, Jay and Julie Klusmann; her niece and nephews: Kelsi, Tyler, Benjamin and Zachary Klusmann, all of Lennox; her maternal grandmother, Pearl Gill, of Wilton, North Dakota; many other relatives; plus a very caring and supportive community in and around Lennox.
