Description	:	Joe Anne Janice Staehr, age 77, of York, died Saturday, May 5, 2018 at Lincoln. She was born Oct. 31, 1940 at Hampton to Walter and Pauline (Dorsey) Opfer. She was baptized Nov. 24, 1940 and confirmed April 11, 1954 at St. Peter Lutheran Church, Hampton. Joe Anne married Dennis H. Staehr on Sept. 27, 1959 and they had three sons. She was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church and of several church organizations and also sang for many years in the choir. She made visits to nursing homes, as she enjoyed the residents company. She liked to cook and... Read More	Joe Anne Janice Staehr, age 77, of York, died Saturday, May 5, 2018 at Lincoln. She was born Oct. 31, 1940 at Hampton to Walter and Pauline (Dorsey) Opfer. She was baptized Nov. 24, 1940 and confirmed April 11, 1954 at St. Peter Lutheran Church, Hampton. Joe Anne married Dennis H. Staehr on Sept. 27, 1959 and they had three sons. She was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church and of several church organizations and also sang for many years in the choir. She made visits to nursing homes, as she enjoyed the residents company. She liked to cook and have people for dinner and snacks. She cooked for 16 years at jobs and then started her own cleaning company business for over 22 years. She is survived by her sons, Jeffrey (Lynda) Staehr, Matthew (JoAnn) Staehr and Dale Staehr; four grandchildren, Dan (Cassie) Staehr, Chad Staehr, Jordan Staehr, Jace Staehr and one great-grandson, Derek Staehr. Also surviving is her twin sister, Cloe Anne Staehr and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband and her brother, Wayne. Memorial services are scheduled for 10 a.m., Saturday, May 19, 2018 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church. Private inurnment at a later date at St. John Lutheran Cemetery, Waco. Joe Anne has donated her body to the Nebraska Anatomical Board for research and education so there will be no viewing or visitation. York News Times May 15, 2018 Contributor: M.
