Description	:	Son of August & Hattie Bunger Trittien Veteran of World War 2 Joe E. Trittien, 93, of Steamboat Rock, died on Friday, October 18, 2002, at the Valley View Nursing Home in Eldora. Services were held on Monday, October 21, at the First Presbyterian Church in Steamboat Rock, with burial in the Steamboat Rock Cemetery. Pastor Bruce Baillie officiated. Joe was born on June 5, 1909 in Steamboat Rock, to August and Hattie Bunger Trittien. He attended country school at Steamboat Rock and on January 10, 1942, he married Grace Hoffman in Steamboat Rock. Joe was inducted into the United States Army in 1941 and served in the Philippines until 1945. He worked for the Steamboat Rock Elevator for a short time and then ran the feed mill at Farm Service in Eldora until retiring in 1971. He attended the First Presbyterian Church in Steamboat Rock. He is survived by a son, Jerry Trittien of Eldora; a daughter, Jane Rotgers and husband, Rod of Iowa Falls ; one granddaughter, Joanna Rotgers of New York City; two sisters, Anna Elzig of Clarissa, Minnesota and Helen Shafer of Eldora; two sisters-in-law, Norma Hoffman of Sun City, Arizona and Frances Hoffman of Newton. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife in 1982; and two brothers, Dick and Hank Trittien.
