Description	:	Joe L. Kirkhart, 84, of rural Cantril, died At 11:01 pm Wednesday, March 30, 2011, at home. He was born Nov. 25, 1926, near Cantril to John and Ethel Bingaman Kirkhart. He married Betty Cazey Oct. 14, 1951, in Cantril. Joe graduated from Cantril High School and served in the U.S.Army during the Korean conflict. He spent his life faming on the Kirkhart family farm north of Cantril. Read More	Joe L. Kirkhart, 84, of rural Cantril, died At 11:01 pm Wednesday, March 30, 2011, at home. He was born Nov. 25, 1926, near Cantril to John and Ethel Bingaman Kirkhart. He married Betty Cazey Oct. 14, 1951, in Cantril. Joe graduated from Cantril High School and served in the U.S.Army during the Korean conflict. He spent his life faming on the Kirkhart family farm north of Cantril. He was an active member of Russell-Strait Post No. 483, American Legion, Milton, had been a longtime secretary-treasurer of Cantril Fire Department, had served on the Grinnell Mutual Insurance board and as a Des Moines Township Trustee. He had also served on the Van Buren County F.H.A. and A.S.C.S. committees. Surviving are his wife; a son, Roger Kirkhart(Donna); and a daughter, Joyce Kirkhart, all of Cantril; three grandchildren, Joey Kirkhart(Kellie)and Mindi Kirkhart of Cantril, and Bryan Kirkhart(Jessi)of Oskaloosa; and three great-grandchildren. His parents preceded him in death. Funeral services will be at 2 pm Saturday at Pedrick Funeral Home, Keosauqua; Rev. Jerry Caughron officiating. Burial with military rites by Russell-Strait Post will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Cantril. Visitation will open at 2 pm today at the funeral home with family present from 5-7 pm. Memorials to Maple Grove Cemetery or Russell-Strait Post.
