Born in Kannapolis, NC, January 4, 1930, he was the son of the late Moses D. Waller and Callie Cox Waller. Surviving are four brothers: Ray, Bob, and Glenn of Kannapolis and James of Williamsburg, VA. He is also survived by his wife of 63 years, Martha Lou W. Waller; daughter, Pamela Jo Phillips; son, Joe Lee, Jr. (Cindy) and daughter, Susan Margaret Gochenour (Tim); nine grandchildren... Born in Kannapolis, NC, January 4, 1930, he was the son of the late Moses D. Waller and Callie Cox Waller. Surviving are four brothers: Ray, Bob, and Glenn of Kannapolis and James of Williamsburg, VA. He is also survived by his wife of 63 years, Martha Lou W. Waller; daughter, Pamela Jo Phillips; son, Joe Lee, Jr. (Cindy) and daughter, Susan Margaret Gochenour (Tim); nine grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. Joe graduated from J. W. Cannon High School in 1947. He became a U.S. Navy Corpsman and was attached to the Fleet Marines. He attended both Duke and Bowman Gray Schools of Radiology Technology. He graduated with honors from Florida International University with his degree in Healthcare Administration. His post graduate studies were at Nova State University. He also attended Loyola School of Law in California. He retired at age 77 after 56 years of service to the radiology profession. He was a 32nd Degree Mason. While living in California, he attended the Presbyterian church serving as a deacon and an elder. He was currently a member of Southside Baptist Church, Spartanburg. Memorial services will be 1:00 p.m., Saturday, September 19, 2015, at Southside Baptist Church with Dr. Schuyler Peterson, Dr. Bobby Pettit, and Rev. Chris Murrell officiating. Friends will be received at the church following the service. Inurnment will be private at a later date. The family is at the home.
