He was born Feb. 13, 1916 in Webster, Rooks County, Kansas, a son of Joseph I. and Violet L. Stanton Capps. He was raised in Rooks County and after completing his education moved to Denver, Colo., where he was employed as a sheet metal worker. In 1965 he moved to Indiana and settled at Wolf Lake. He was born Feb. 13, 1916 in Webster, Rooks County, Kansas, a son of Joseph I. and Violet L. Stanton Capps. He was raised in Rooks County and after completing his education moved to Denver, Colo., where he was employed as a sheet metal worker. In 1965 he moved to Indiana and settled at Wolf Lake. He was last employed at Starcraft Co. at Topeka. During WW II he served as a T-Sgt. in the U. S. Army in the European Theatre. He was with the 750th Railway Battalion in charge of vital bridge construction. On Sept. 5, 1970 he married Jennie Smith Boggs. They have always lived at Wolf Lake. He was a member of American Legion Post 98. Surviving are his wife; a son, Joseph M of Denver, Colo.; a daughter, Marva Young of Cape Cod, Mass.; a stepson, Mickey Boggs of R. 7, Columbia City; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Lanny (Barbara) Wilt of Wolf Lake, Mrs. H. R. (Patricia) Howlett of Plainfield, Ill.; 13 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Graveside service at Wolf Lake Cemetery. + 7-7-1985 Contributed by Roberta Lytle
