Description	:	Joe Prokesh, 84, of Scottsbluff, died Sunday, May 8, 2005 at his home after a short bout with cancer. His funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, May 12, 2005 at the Jolliffe Funeral Home in Scottsbluff, with Pastor Ed Hunzeker officiating. Interment will follow at East Lawn Cemetery in Minatare with military graveside rites given by the Nebraska National Guard Honor Detail. Joe was born April 22, 1921 at Lost Springs, Wyo. to Jack and Ethel (Kamp) Prokesh. At the age of three years, he went to live with his aunt and uncle, Bill and Gussie Buchholz and was raised and educated in Douglas, Wyo. He served with the United States Navy in the Pacific Theatre on a minesweeper during World War Two from February of 1942 until November of 1945. After his honorable discharge, he lived in Roseburg, Ore., where he met and married Dorothy Sampson on July 29, 1950. The couple moved to Nebraska where Joe worked in various auto body shops until he opened his own body shop, Joe's Body Shop, which he owned and operated in Scottsbluff for 35 years. He is survived by his wife Dorothy of Scottsbluff, an aunt Mabel Kamp of Torrington, Wyo., half-brothers David Prokesh of Wahoo, Neb. and Ron Prokesh of Wolbach, Neb., half-sisters Jackie Prokesh and Peggy Delio, both of Denver and Mary Barr of Wolbach, and special cousins John and Kay Horn and family of Loveland, Colo. Numerous other cousins and a host of friends also survive him. His parents and an aunt and an uncle preceded him in death. Scottsbluff, Star-Herald, May 11, 2005
