Description	:	Joel Wright was born prematurely, like all of aunt Bunt's children, but he was different. Joel had cerebral palsy, he never walked or talked. Joel had been injured during birth because a nurse at the hospital refused to get the doctor when aunt Bunt told her she was in premature labor. Bunt had trouble carrying all her children, she never carried a baby more than 8 months, and the last one hemorrhaged & she almost died, too. But Joel survived for about a year after he was born. Joel had been injured during birth because a nurse at the hospital refused to get the doctor when aunt Bunt told her she was in premature labor. Bunt had trouble carrying all her children, she never carried a baby more than 8 months, and the last one hemorrhaged & she almost died, too. But Joel survived for about a year after he was born. Bunt said he was a wonderful baby, too good, he laughed & crowed & never cried. She said babies who don't cry don't live long, and she took him to many doctors trying to find someone who could help him, but all told her he was damaged at birth & could not be helped. Aunt Bunt's doctor knew she was in trouble and put her in the hospital so she would be near help when she needed it, but the nurse on her ward didn't believe her when she told her she had gone into premature labor. Aunt Bunt had a very soft voice, and she was never aggressive or insistent. She said she called the nurse several times & told her that she was in labor, but the baby was not coming even though her contractions were getting closer & closer. She knew from experience that the doctor would have to break her water for the baby to come, and she told the nurse she needed him, but the nurse was angry and didn't believe her, and the last time she called, she took the call button away from Bunt & told her never to call her again & walked out. Aunt Bunt's father was in the room, Henry Barnett had Alzheimer's, he lived with his daughter. Bunt knew he didn't understand what was going on, but she knew she might could get him to go somewhere there was a phone & call, so she told him to call her husband at work. He did, and as soon as Frank came & she told him to call the doctor, he did, and the doctor came. He broke her water & Joel was born immediately, but he was brain damaged from her body pushing him so long. Aunt Bunt told me this quietly one night, she said she had tried for years to forgive that nurse, and it was the hardest thing she had ever had to do. She was a very Christian woman, she believed in the power of forgiveness. Joel died of an intestinal blockage similar to what killed his brother Cleon. --Jeni
