Mr. Faires was one of the town's oldest residents, and died Wednesday morning following a week's illness at his home on Columbus Street. The Rev. W. A. Smith, pastor, conducted the services. Mrs. W. A. Smith was at the organ and the male quartet, composed of N. E. Crees, Roy Tharp, A. H. Ditmars, and Harry Lewis sang two selections, "Old Rugged Cross" and "Going Down The Valley." Pallbearers were George Hinkhouse, Frank Robinson, A. V. Aker, Amy Kimberley, Charles DeForest, and Walter Bailey. Relatives from out of town who attended the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Deal and daughter of Des Moines; Glenn Stoner of Mt. Vernon; Mr. and Mrs. Owen Faires and Ronald Alexander of Cedar Rapids; Clark Faires of Rapids City, S.D.; Mr. and Mrs. Cheadle and grandson of Iowa City; Mr. and Mrs. Marion Faires; Mr. and Mrs. Earl Rife and Mrs. Ollie Faires and father; and Mr. and Mrs. Howard Faires of Lone Tree. Burial was in Oak Ridge Cemetery. * * * * * Muscatine Journal and News-Tribune, Thursday, January 22, 1931 West Liberty -- Funeral services for Joel Faires, 93, who died at his home Wednesday morning after a brief illness with bronchitis, will be conducted at 2 o'clock Friday afternoon in the Methodist Church, by the Rev.
