Description	:	Joel Lee Boeckmann, 52, formerly of Tripoli, Iowa, died Saturday, Dec. 8, 2007, at Genesis West, Davenport, after a massive stroke. Funeral services are 10:30 a.m. today at Grace Lutheran Church, Tripoli. Interment is in Grace Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation was 6-8 p.m. Monday, Dec. 10, and is one hour prior to services today at church. Joel Boeckmann, the son of Roger and Glenyce Hartman Boeckmann, was born April 22, 1955, in Sumner, Iowa. He was baptized May 25, 1955, and confirmed March 22, 1970, at Grace Lutheran Church, Tripoli. He graduated from Tripoli High School in 1973, and the Des Moines Area Community College Masonry Institute in 1975. Joel was united in marriage with Jill Thurm on Sept. 10, 1977. Two children were born to this union. They divorced in 1990. Joel then was united in marriage with Debbora Dahlgaard on Nov. 14, 1998, at Grace Lutheran Church, Tripoli. Joel was a bricklayer and later an area superintendent for Seedorf Masonry of Strawberry Point, Iowa, since 1975. He was transferred to the Quad-Cities area in 1999. He was a lifelong member of Grace Lutheran Church, Tripoli. He had been a member of the Wapsie Sportsmen's Club and the Tripoli Fire Department. Joel recently was named to be a judge in the National Bricklaying Competition and he had been a judge in the Iowa Bricklaying Competition. Joel enjoyed golfing, hunting, fishing, yard work and spending time with his grandchildren. Joel is survived by his wife, Deb, Orion; four children, Adam Boeckmann, Kansas City, Mo., Chris (Jessica) Damm, Anamosa, Iowa, Ben Damm, Fort Dodge, Iowa, and Craig Johnson, Urbandale, Iowa; six grandchildren, Tyler, Ashlen, Sydney, Seth, Isaiah and Isabella; his parents, Glenyce and Forrest Bolte, Vinton, Iowa; brother, Tom (Lisa) Boeckmann, Vinton; and sister, Lori Meyer, Evansdale, Iowa. Joel was preceded in death by his daughter, Cara Ann, who died April 21, 2000; his father, Roger Boeckmann; and his grandparents.
