HIATT Joel Webster Hiatt was born near Centerville, Iowa, June 8, 1855 and died 15 June 1934 at the age of 79 years and 7 days after an illness of only a few hours. He was preceded in death by his wife Julia, one week. On July 13, 1875 he was married to Julia A. Raney of Centerville, Iowa. Four sons and one daughter survive him. HIATT Joel Webster Hiatt was born near Centerville, Iowa, June 8, 1855 and died 15 June 1934 at the age of 79 years and 7 days after an illness of only a few hours. He was preceded in death by his wife Julia, one week. On July 13, 1875 he was married to Julia A. Raney of Centerville, Iowa. Four sons and one daughter survive him. They are Albert of Hastings, Delbert of Harvard, Mrs. Anna Murphy of Lincoln, Henry of Colorado, LeRoy of Harvard, one son died in infancy. He has four sisters and three brothers living, Mrs. Callen of St. Louis, Mo., Malissie Raney of Oklahoma, Anna Stevens of Burden, Kansas, Hallie Coffey of Winfield, Kansas, four brothers, Henry, Clay, Curtis and Lewis B. and a stepmother in California. There are 22 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren, besides numerous other relatives and a host of friends. He was a member of the Christian church. All his life he has lived a faithful consistent Christian life. F. Untersear, Lyle Long, Verner Ham, Curtis Murphy, F. W. Murphy and Raymond Hiatt were pallbearers at the funerals of Both Mr. and Mrs. Hiatt. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Albee, Mrs. Maude Schwenk and Albert Wilson sang also at both funerals and Mrs. Nettie Scheer was accompanist. Services for Mr. Hiatt were held at the Christian church Sunday, June 17 conducted by Rev. W. A. Alcorn and burial at Seatonville cemetery. The family have the deep sympathy of the entire community in this double bereavement. ------------- From "The Clay County Sun", Clay Center, Nebraska dated Thursday, June 21, 1934, Page 2: Joe Hiatt passed away Friday morning at his home, after an illne4ss of a few hours, caused by a collapse from losing his wife just a week ago. Funeral services were held Sunday at the Christian church. Burial at Seatonville cemetery, beside his wife, whose funeral was last Sunday. ------------- From "The Clay County Sun", Clay Center, Nebraska dated Thursday, June 21, 1934, Page 3: Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Hiatt and Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Schueler attended the funeral of Mr. Hiatt's and Mrs. Schueller's grandfather, Joseph Hiatt at Harvard on Sunday afternoon.
