Read More	July 26, 1950 - December 13, 2019 Joey Julian Broome, age 69, passed away on Friday, December 13, 2019 at his home with his faithful wife, Nancy, by his side. Joey was born on July 26, 1950 in Camden, SC. He was the son of the late Rev. Cecil Adams and Lula Robinson Broome. He was preceded in death by two brothers, W. Lloyd Broome and Thomas M. Broome, and by an infant son, Christopher Broome. Joey was a graduate of the Parkwood High School Class of 1969. In 1972, Joey earned his Associate Degree from Wingate College. For 20 years, Joey worked as General Manager for the NC division of Barth and Dreyfus in Monroe, NC. Following that, Joey worked another 20 years for Monroe Hardware Company as its Director of Distribution. Joey was well known in the community as a faithful Bible teacher and choir leader. One of Joey’s great loves was the Bible, and many people were blessed through the years to be able to sit under Joey’s teaching of God’s Word to his family, Joey was the embodiment of kindness, humility, generosity, and love. No doubt these characteristics were the overflow of Joey’s faith in Jesus as his Savior. Joey was a faithful husband, a devoted father, and a doting “Grampy,” always making sure there was Starbursts candy for his grandchildren to enjoy on their visits with him. Joey will be deeply missed by his wife of 50 years, Nancy Estridge Broome. He is also survived by a son, Scott, and his wife, Mika, his daughter, Meredith, 5 grandchildren: Marleigh, Brennan, Ben, Luke, and Madelyn, and a sister-in-law, Joyce Broome. Funeral services will be at 2:00pm on Tuesday, December 17, 2019 at Waxhaw Baptist Church, 8213 Old Waxhaw Monroe Road, Waxhaw, NC 28173, officiated by the Rev. Chris Whittaker. Burial to follow in Lakeland Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:00pm until 8:00pm Monday, December 16, 2019 at Gordon Funeral Service and Crematory, 1904 Lancaster Ave, Monroe, NC 28112.
