Burial was in the Sacred Heart cemetery (sic). -- Lawrence (Special Correspondence) =========== The Blue Hill Leader (Blue Hill, NE), Friday, February 16, 1934; pg. 8 Casper Venhaus of Lawrence passed away at the home of his son, Henry, on Saturday, Feb. 10, at the age of 82 years. Funeral services were held at the Sacred Heart church (sic) at Lawrence, conducted by Rev. Charles Becker, on Tuesday morning at 9 o'clock. Burial was in the Sacred Heart cemetery (sic) east of Lawrence. Mr. Venhaus is survived by six sons, who acted as pallbearers; also three daughters. Merten Bros. of Blue Hill had charge of funeral arrangements. ======================== The Nelson Gazette (Nelson, NE), Thursday, February 22, 1934 Casper Venhaus was born at Weidenbruch (sic), Germany, March 3 (sic), 1851, and died at Lawrence, Nebr., February 10, 1934; age 82 years, 11 months and 17 days. He emigrated to the United States in 1879. First settled at Ft. Madison, Iowa, where on February 3, 1880, he was married to Anna Beck. Shortly after this marriage he came to St. Stephens precinct. In 1916 he retired from the farm and moved to Lawrence. Mrs. Venhaus passed away in 1930. Six sons and two daughters survive.
