Mr. Echtenkamp was born in Germany and came to this country with his parents who settled at Quincy, Ill. He was married and five children were born to them. Read More	The Arlington Times, Arlington, NE, Friday, Feb 14, 1896 Fred Echtenkamp Sr. departed this life Tuesday, February 11, 1896, aged 55 years, 11 months, 25 days. Mr. Echtenkamp was born in Germany and came to this country with his parents who settled at Quincy, Ill. He was married and five children were born to them. His wife died in 1875 and was buried at that place. Seventeen years ago he came to Washington County and has since lived near Arlington. On account of failing health he came, some time ago, to live with his son Fred. In Arlington. He was taken to Fremont hospital for treatment, but was pronounced by the attending physician to be in the last stages of Bright's disease. He wished to be brought back to his son's where he was tenderly cared for by his friends and Dr. Harris, who did all in their power to alleviate his suffering, until death relieved him on Monday (sic) last. His wish was to be buried in the Lutheran cemetery. A short service was held at the house at 1 o'clock after which the remains were taken to the Lutheran church 5 miles northwest of Arlington, where his funeral was preached by Rev. Hilgendorf, after which his burial took place according to the rites of that denomination.
