Description	:	"A fatal accident occurred at the Windhorst church last evening in which Fritz Schawe, an aged farmer, lost his life. A crowd of men and boys were standing in front of the church when Will Kesselman drove up in his auto about 7:20 o'clock. The crowd scattered to let the car through, and in attempting t avoid it Mr. Schawe stepped directly in its path and was knocked into a ditch beside the road. He came to American in August of 1886 and landed in Baltimore, Maryland. His first wife was Anna Marie Baute who was also born in Germany. It is unclear when and where they were married. One daughter and one son were born before Anna passed away. She is buried in Bevis Cedar Grove Cemetery in Hamilton County, Ohio. In 1873, Johann married Mary Catherine Hoffensetter. Two more children were born joining the two from Fred's first marriage. The family of six came to the Windthorst area in 1878-1879.
