Cancer of the stomach is given as the cause of his death. The funeral was held Wednesday afternoon from the Wayne Zion Lutheran church, Rev. Willms assisted by Rev. Mardorf conducting the services. The family settled on a farm near Langworthy upon arriving here and Jones county has been their home ever since. Seven sons and two daughters were born to Mr. and Mrs. Dirks, all of whom survive their parents. They are: Gerd of Arco, Minnesota; Henry of Cedar Rapids; Chris and John of Anamosa; George, Alfred and Dedrick of Amber; Mrs. Anna Hubner of Strawberry Point and Mrs. Mary Bartels of Delaware Mrs., Dirks passed away December 19th, 1923
