He grew to manhood in the other country and in 1874 came to America and to Nebraska and for a time resided in Dodge County. Later he came to Colfax and located in the neighborhood southwest of Leigh. On August 15, 1885, he was united in marriage to Catherine Mary Klostermann and four children, two sons and two daughters were born to this union. On daughter, Mrs. Clara Michaelson passed away several years ago. The other children with the mother survive. They are: Mrs. Baltz, Jenny, Mrs. Fred Hillen and Sigfried Hake. Mr. Hake is also survived by two brothers, Henry Hake, of Columbus, and William Hake of Central City. Mr. Hake enjoyed rugged health and was active throughout his life. He was held in high regard by neighbors and friends and his kindly influence over those with whom he was associated will long be remembered. For the past weeks he has been indisposed in health and on Monday, October 4, the Angel of Death claimed its own and the spirit of Mr. Hake was borne to another world. He had reached the age of 79 years, 10 months and 23 days. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. M. Koolen at the St. Paul's church on Wednesday and interment was made in the churchyard cemetery.
