Meyer, age 95 years, an early day settler of the community northwest of Hooper, but a resident of Scribner the past 22 years, died Monday afternoon at the home of his daughter, Mrs. John Hargens, at Scribner. Though in failing health for a number of years, death followed about a two weeks illness. Mr. Meyer was born November 3, 1840, in Oldenburg, Germany, where he grew to young manhood and where in 1866 he was married to Miss Anna Luers. He came with his family to the United states in 1880, settling on the farm 5 miles northwest of Hooper now occupied by his son, George L. Meyer. He lived on this farm until the death of Mrs. Meyer in 1914 after which he went to live with his daughter, Mrs. Hargens, at Scribner. In his residence on the old home farm, Mr. Meyer was one of the highly successful farmers of the locality and held the high respect of all who knew him. Surviving him are his five children; Mrs. John Hargens of Scribner, Mrs. Anna Sass, George L. Meyer and J. H. C. Meyer of north of Hooper and Mrs. Frank Hartung of Arapahoe, Colorado. Funeral services will be held this Thursday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the St. Peters Lutheran church in Scribner.
