Description	:	John Heyne was born on May 28, 1885 in Neudorf, Odessa, South Russia (Ukraine), about 50 miles northeast of the city of Odessa on the Black Sea. This area was settled by Germans around 1815 to 1840. His parents were Ephriam and Karolina Docktor Heyne. John was the oldest of five children. His siblings were: Margareda 'Elizabeth', born in 1887; Eva, born in 1890; Jacob, born in 1892; and Karolina 'Lena', born in 1901. John and his family immigrated in 1896 and settled in Grant County, North Dakota. In 1910, he married Bertha Heim in Elgin, North Dakota. Bertha was born in Tarutino, Bessarabia, South Russia. John and Bertha had three children: Mathilda 'Tillie', born in 1910; Martha, born in 1913; and Herbert, born in 1916. On November 21, 1918, Bertha died. In 1923, John remarried to Wilhelmina 'Minnie' Heinle, who was born in Johannestahl, Beresan, Odessa, South Russia (Ukraine). They had one child, Edna, born in 1924. John died in Elgin on October 10, 1934, and Minnie died on June 24, 1985. Bertha, John and Minnie are buried in Zion Cemetery in Elgin.
