Description	:	Last rites held at Middleburg for Mrs. Wiersema Funeral services were held at the Free Grace Reformed church at Middleburg on Tuesday, December 31, at 1:30 p.m. for Mrs. Johanna Wiersema, aged 77 years, one month and one day. She passed away at the Grossmann hospital on Saturday, December 28. Her death was caused by creeping paralysis. Services were conducted by the Rev. William B. Kolenbrander, and burial was made in the Sioux Center cemetery. Van Etten funeral home of Orange City was in charge of the arrangements. A brief service was held at the home preceding the service in the church. Mrs. Wiersema, nee Johanna De Vries, was born in The Netherlands in 1880. She came to America at the age of two years. She was united in marriage to Eise Wiersema on March 17, 1903, at Sioux Center. He preceded her in death on June 13, 1940. Survivors include three children: John Wiersema, (Ethel) Mrs. Dick Kraayenbrink, and Elmer Wiersema, all of the Orange City vicinity; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by two sisters: Winnie in childhood and Sara (Mrs. Rich Hulstein) on October 5, 1957. Pallbearers were Teunis Wiersema, Peter Leusink, Alfred Hoogland, Henry Jans, William R. Hulstein and Joe Zoet. Sioux County Capital 1958-01-09.
