Description	:	Johanna Josephine Long Mannes Oltmanns passed from this world April 22, 2018 at the Welcov Center in Lennox at the age of 100. Josephine was born July 30, 1917, near Larchwood, Iowa. She was the last of 13 children born to Charlie and Emma (Johnson) Long. Known as Phina to her family, she enjoyed a happy childhood and attended country school. Read More	Johanna Josephine Long Mannes Oltmanns passed from this world April 22, 2018 at the Welcov Center in Lennox at the age of 100. Josephine was born July 30, 1917, near Larchwood, Iowa. She was the last of 13 children born to Charlie and Emma (Johnson) Long. Known as Phina to her family, she enjoyed a happy childhood and attended country school. After graduating from Larchwood High School, she worked as a nanny/maid in Sioux Falls until meeting Tonnes Mannes. They were married and moved to rural Brandon where they began raising their three children: Sharon, Ken, and Linda. After Tonnes died early in their marriage, Josephine moved her family to Sioux Falls. A few years later, she met Fred Oltmanns, a widowed farmer from Lennox and they married in 1956. Fred and his first wife, Elvina, had two young sons, Stanley and Daryl. Josephine and Fred merged the two families and they began a new life together. Her last years were spent at the assisted living in Lennox, being loved by all who helped her. Mother loved music all of her life, playing her one and only piano piece, “Star of the East”. She enjoyed creating exquisite needle-work and lovely flower gardens. But her special love was for her many grandchildren and great grandchildren. She and they loved her playful teasing and delectable cookies. Josephine was preceded in death by her husbands, Tonnes Mannes, Fred Oltmanns, son, Daryl Oltmanns and 12 siblings. She is survived by a host of family and caring friends who loved her until the end. We are grateful for her life and all it has meant to us and to others. Survivors: children: Sharon (Stan) Plucker, Lennox, Kenneth (Mary) Mannes, Freeman, Linda Mannes, Carlsbad, CA, Stan (Shirley) Oltmanns, Sioux Falls and daughter-in-law, Darcy Oltmanns, Piedmont, SD; 13 grandchildren: Becky (Chuck) Holescher, April (Tim) Nugteren, Darrin (Sabrina) Plucker, Hadley (Lynn) Plucker, Melissa (Chris) Hall, Barbara (Ted) Kunz, Edajeanne (Tim) Timmoms, Elizabeth (Jake) Walz, Brian Oltmanns, James (Jennifer) Oltmanns, Ann (Dean) Solinsky, Sam Oltmanns and Aly Buxcel; 23 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.Johanna
