They were the parents of LeRoy (1906), Elmer V (1909), Edna Mae (1912), W.H., and Dorothy Ruth (1922). The Mapleton Press - Thursday , November 18th, 1954 - Mrs. Johanna Kate Champion, age 60, was the daughter of the late Peter and Anna Clausen. She was born March 13, 1885, in Crawford county near Schleswig. When she was seven years old, she moved with her parents to Nebraska, later moving to Oklahoma. She returned to Iowa when she was 14 years of age. She was united in marriage to Ray Champion Marcn 4, 1906. Five children were born to this union Roy, Elmer, Edna and Dorothy at home and W H Champion of Grant Center. Mrs. Champion died Nov 13, at her home at Albert City. Survivors Include the widower, five children; one daughter-in-law; two granddaughters: five brothers, C. Clausen of Mapleton, Chris Clausen of Charter Oak, August Clausen of Verdigre, Neb., Herman Clausen of Crookston, Neb., and William Clausen of Eagle Butte, S.D.; three sisters. Mrs. Otto Lill of Battle Cree, Iowa, Mrs. Maurice Lange of LaGrande, Ore.; and Mrs. Mary Wiese of Hancock, Minn. She lived with her family in the Mapleton community until 1911 when they moved to Albert City. Funeral services were held at St. John's Methodist church in Mapleton at 2:30 Tuesday afternoon, Nov. 16. Interment was at Mt. Hope cemetery. Iowa, County Marriages, 1838-1934 Name: R. R.
