Obituary - Gibbon Reporter, Gibbon, Nebraska, 21 October 1926 Magdalena Steinhilber Litterman, 1840-1926 Johanna Magdelena Roller was born in Wurtemburg, Germany, March 20, 1840. She married in 1868 to John [Johannes] Steinhilber of Pfuhl, Germany. To this union were born seven children: Ernest of Dolgeville, N.Y.; Adam of Brooklyn, N.Y.; Mrs. Regina Stearley of Kimball, Nebr.; Mrs. Mary Fester of Hardisty, Canada; Mrs. Bertha Trotier of Germany; Mrs. Lena Clark of Montana, who preceded her in death in 1918; and Mrs. Margaret Stearley of Shelton, Nebr., with whom she had been making her home the past 12 years and at which place she passed peacefully away early on the morning of October 16, 1926, at the age of 86 years, 6 months and 26 days. In 1879, she came with a colony of immigrants to Utah, and after five years residence there, came to Gibbon, Nebraska, where she was married to Paul Litterman and has resided here since. She was a devoted Christian, always putting her faith in God, thru all the many years of hard labor and tribulations, and affiliating herself with the church of her choice at whatever place she was residing, being a member of the Holiness denomination at the time of her death. Her deeds of kindness and helpfulness won her many friends. She leaves besides the children mentioned, 44 grandchildren and 41 great-grandchildren. Her two husbands, one daughter and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren having preceded her to the Great Beyond. Funeral services were held at the home, conducted by Rev. Deck of the Nazarene church of Kearney, and she was laid to rest in Riverside Cemetery in Gibbon on Monday, October 18.
