Johanna was born in Pittsburgh, Pa., on March 13, 1917, the ninth child of John and Marie (Golle) Murn. The family left Pennsylvania when Johanna was very young and moved to Franklin, Kan., and eventually moved to Red Lodge, making the picturesque town their home. Read More	RED LODGE - Johanna Theresa Shandy, 88, died Friday, Oct. 14, 2005, at the Cedarwood Villa in Red Lodge. Johanna was born in Pittsburgh, Pa., on March 13, 1917, the ninth child of John and Marie (Golle) Murn. The family left Pennsylvania when Johanna was very young and moved to Franklin, Kan., and eventually moved to Red Lodge, making the picturesque town their home. Johanna attended grade school in Red Lodge and later was home schooled by her mother. Johanna was extremely talented and enjoyed needlework very much. She knitted and crocheted for her relatives and friends, presenting them with beautiful sweaters and afghans as gifts. She was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church in Red Lodge. She worked in the food industry at Yellowstone National Park and several other businesses in the community. Johanna married Robert Kimmitt in 1941 and they had one son. She married Roland Shandy in 1962; he preceded her in death in 1987. Johanna was also preceded in death by seven siblings. She is survived by her son, John Kimmitt; one sister, Anna Wertanen; and a nephew, Arne Wertanen, all of Red Lodge; a very fond niece and nephew, Harry and Eleanor Carson, of Pennsylvania. She also leaves numerous nieces and nephews. Johanna's family extends special thanks to her caregivers, Maureen Ortez, Peggy Lynn, Alberta Daem and Lindsey Iverson, who lovingly cared for her during her illness. Visitation will be at St. Agnes Catholic Church from noon to 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct 19. Funeral services will follow at 2 p.m., with interment in Joliet Cemetery. Dahl Funeral Home in Red Lodge is in charge of services. Published in the Billings Gazette on 10/18/2005.
