Page 6 ___________________________________________________________ Mrs. Altho Folkerts passed away on Monday, October 28th (1968), at Maple Manor Nursing Home in Aplington at the age of 95 years, 9 months and 3 days. Johanna Voss was born January 25, 1873 in Schott, Ostfriesland, Germany, daughter of Henry H. and Fanny (Loentjer) Voss. In 1893, at age 20, she came to this country and settled near Aplington. She married Altho Folkerts on September 14, 1895 and settled near Wellsburg. They moved to a farm two miles east of Bristow in 1900 and resided there until 1930 when they retired to Bristow. Survivors include four sons: George Folkerts of Greene, Minno Folkerts of Bristow, Henry Folkerts of Phoenix and Harold Folkerts of Allison; three daughters, Mrs. C. H. Jungling of Clarksville, Mrs. Lester Eberline of Bristow and Hattie (Mrs. W. J. ) Best of Aplington; one sister, Mrs. John Peters of Wellsburg; 22 grandchildren; 55 great grandchildren and 14 great great grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her parents husband, three sons: Folkert of Nashua, Clayton of Iowa Falls and Edward M. of Charles City.
