Death was due to heart trouble. Death was due to heart trouble. Although she had been ailing for some time, she was feeling unusually well last night, but at an early hour this morning she suffered an attack, and soon after, life became extinct. Mrs. Bilkey was not affiliated with any fraternal orders, but was a member of the First Congregational church of this city for the past 48 years, and was associated with numerous societies of that church. She was of a quiet nature, but nevertheless was well-known in this city, and her many friends will be grieved to learn of her sudden demise. Mrs. Bilkey suffered from a cold, which it is thought somewhat hastened her end. Johanna Weber Bilkey was born in Wertenberg, Germany, on Sept. 3, 1834. In 1852 she came to America and located at Newark,N. J., where in February, 1855, she was united in marriage to Joseph Bilkey. They removed to Iowa a year later and first settled at Cedar Rapids, until 1856, when they came to Muscatine. Her husband preceded her in death on March 3, 1893 Besides one sister, Mrs. Katherine Nyere, of Cedar Rapids, she is survived by one daughter, Miss Sarah Bilkey, of Muscatine. One son, William, died on November 16, 1875. No funeral arrangements have been made.
