Furr (25 nativity NH), a resident of Padua, McLean County, Illinois enlisted as a Private in Company D, 94th Illinois Infantry Regiment. Source: Wikipedia John A. Furr married Mary Isabelle Moore on 03 October 1864 in Davenport, Scott County, Iowa. At different times during his career he was a mechanic, blacksmith, farmer (he bred champion Standard Poland-China Swine) and a Proprietor of a Confectionery Store. Death of John Furr The Pantagraph has received a copy of the Republican, published at Imperial, Neb., in which is printed the death of John A. Furr, an early resident of McLean county and a soldier of the Ninety-fourth Illinois. His death occurred on March 30 and was caused by heart disease, he having been ill but a few hours before he expired. He was born in West Virginia on February 11, 1837, and came to Illinois with his parents when he was but a young lad. He served with credit during the war and afterwards married Mary I. Moore at Davenport, Ia. In 1884 he moved to Butler county, Nebraska, and four years later became a resident of Chase county, where he died. Immediate relatives who are left are a wife, two daughters, Mrs. C. F. Townsend, of Des Moines, Ia., and Mrs. Frank McLain, of Imperial, and a sister, Mrs. Wheeler Greenwood, of Viola, Ill.
