Description	:	John A. Gross, 69, died on December 19, 2012, after a courageous three-year battle with brain cancer. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, December 22, at Church of the Ascension, 1905 S 3rd St, Bismarck, with The Rev. Msgr James Braaten and Rev. James Gross officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Bismarck. Visitation will be held from 3:00 pm – 9:00 pm Friday, December 21, at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Parkway, Bismarck, where a Knights of Columbus Rosary will begin at 7:00 pm. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church. John was born June 30, 1943, to Raphael and Mary (Deibert) Gross of Burnstad, ND. He graduated from Napoleon High School in 1961. John married Medy Weigel on October 30, 1965. They lived on the family farm for 15 years and then moved to Bismarck where John was employed with Cross Country Courier for 27 years. John truly loved his job and made many life-long friends along his route. John also loved singing with and being a part of the choir at Church of the Ascension. Another great source of entertainment for John was the weekly bus trip to Prairie Knights Casino. He valued the friendships made there. John was a member of Cathedral Council of the Knights of Columbus. Honored to have shared his life are his wife of 47 years, Medy, Bismarck; his daughter, Sandra (Victor) Krehlick, Riverdale; his son, Darren, Bismarck; and his very precious grandchildren, Brandon and Alexis Krehlik, Riverdale; his mother, Mary Gross; his brother, Tony (Sharon) Gross; Bismarck; his sisters-in-law, Agnes Gross, Carolyn (Alvin) Gross, Napoleon, Agatha Schaffer, Edgeley, Mary Ann Weigel (Clarence Wanner), Rochester, MN; brother-in-law, Ben (Marian) Weigel, Bismarck; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Raphael Gross; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Baltzer B. and Katherine Weigel; his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Andrew Gross, Baltzer and Helen Wald, Herman Schaffer, and Delores Weigel.
