Howard, a highly respected citizen of Batavia, after a lingering illness of several months, died at his home in Batavia, September 30th. Funeral services were held Friday morning at 10 o'clock. Howard, a highly respected citizen of Batavia, after a lingering illness of several months, died at his home in Batavia, September 30th. Funeral services were held Friday morning at 10 o'clock. Mr. Howard was born in Libertyville, September 18th, 1876 (sic. 1866). He was united in marriage March 20th, 1889, with Melissa Hutton. To this union one son was born, Edmon (sic. Edwin Daniel/ a/k/a Edmund), who resides in Davenport. Left to mourn this kind father and loving husband are the wife and son, the aged father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. David Howard of Ottumwa, three sisters, Maggie and Allie Tudor, also of Ottumwa, and Etta Kitchen of Pine Grove, Ill.; four brothers, Robert of Ottumwa, William of Keokuk, Goldie and David of Kenosha, Wis., together with a number of other relatives and a host of friends. About five years ago Mr. Howard united with the M.E. church of Batavia and lived a devout christian life until his death. He gave evidence of his Christian spirit in that he bore his last illness with great patience and without complaint. - Corr.
