He married Marjorie Rupe Dec. 25, 1943. He served in the U. S. Army Air Corps during World War II from 1941 to 1945 and was awarded the Purple Heart and other citations. Surviving is his wife; a daughter, Willetta (Walt) Brantley of Medina, Texas; a son, Timothy (Krissnee) Martsching of Alpharetta, Ga.; two grandchildren, Jeffrey (Keri) Brantley of Bargerville, Ind. and Melinda Brantley of Whitestown, Ind.; three great-grandchildren, Kathryn, Jordan and Haley. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Talais Martsching; five brothers, Bob, Fred, Jim, Dick and Bill Martsching; and a sister, Mary Thomas. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday at St. Paul Lutheran Church with Rev. Robert Elgin officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery with military services conducted by Walter B. Schafer Post #775 Veterans of Foreign Wars and O.B. Nelson Post #3 American Legion.
