Services will be held at 11 a.m. MST Tuesday at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, Flasher, with the Reverend Gary Benz officiating. Burial will be in St. Gertrude's Cemetery, Raleigh. John was born July 08, 1905, at Krasna, Russia, to August and Scholastica (Volk) Nagel. He came to America with his parents in 1909, and they settled on a farm west of Raleigh, where he was raised and educated. He married Theresia Koch on July 03, 1929, at Shields. After their marriage, they farmed and ranched in the Shields and Raleigh areas. In 1980, his wife Theresia died. In 1969 he built a house in Flasher, where he lived but continued to work at the farm and ranch. He raised Hereford cattle and enjoyed having several horses around, being a cowboy at heart. John was known as a story teller. Just a word or two would remind him of as story which he would tell in great detail. These fond memories will be cherished by his family and friends. John is survived by his two sons and one daughter-in-law, Eddie (Verna), Raleigh, and Larry, Shields; his daughter and son-in-law, Rose Mary (James) Lawson, Flasher; four grandchildren and their spouses, Donald (Estelle) Lawson, Tamara (Reginal) Rudolph, Wendy (Scott) Kopp and Michael (Vicky) Scholes; ten great grandchildren; and one sister and two brothers-in-law, Theresia (Mike) Miller, Raleigh, and Isadore Miller, Flasher. He was preceded in death by his wife, Theresia; his son, Lester; a brother, Gabe; five sisters, Gertrude Miller, Tillie Loeb, Sadie Kuntz, Margaret Holzer, and Rufina Nagel; and his parents.
