Bruno, Jan. 25 - Funeral services for John A. Rerucha, who passed away at his home four miles southeast of Bruno Monday morning, Jan. 16, were held from St. Anthony's Catholic church Wednesday morning, Jan. 18, at 10 o'clock. Rev. Father Kvitek, pastor of St. Anthony's church, said Requiem High Mass and conducted the services. The pallbearers were four brothers of the deceased, Thomas, Alois, Henry and Joseph Rerucha, and two brothers-in-law, Frank and Vincent Novacek. Members of the Catholic Workmen lodge were honorary pallbearers and escorted the remains to St. Anthony's cemetery for interment. The fatal injuries to Mr. Rerucha were received while cutting down a tree near the family home, assisted by his son and brother-in-law, Vincent Novacek. In falling, the tree had splintered above the cut several feet and in attempting to dislodge the tree trunk it broke loose, striking Mr. Rerucha on the back of the head, fracturing his skull. John A. Rerucha was born in Saunders county, near Prague, on February 22, 1887, oldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Rerucha. The family moved to Butler county, near Bruno, in 1891, in which community they have since resided. John A. Rerucha and Miss Agnes Novacek were united in marriage at St. Anthony's church, Bruno, May 12, 1914. To them were born three sons, Frank, John and Victor, and one daughter, Dolores, who with Mrs. Rerucha survive, as do his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Rerucha, four brothers, Thomas, Alois, Henry and Joseph, and three sisters, Mary and Christie and Mrs. Hermie Fiala. Mr. Rerucha was a man of fine character, kindly and unassuming, a devout Catholic, a member of the Knights of Columbus and Cathoic Workmen lodges. Those attending the funeral from elsewhere were Messrs. and Mesdames Joseph Rerucha, Sr., John Shultz, Emil Kobza, John Kobza, Sr., Ivan Kobza, Adolph Kobza, John Brom and Mrs. Helen Kobza, all from Brainard, Joseph Rerucha, Jr., Rudolph Rerucha and John Kobza, all from Garrison, Ray M. Rerucha and Charles Novacek, from David City, William Rerucha and Frank Rerucha, from Appleton; Charles Kobza and Frank Kobza, from Dwight; Joseph Jambor and James Polak, from Plasi; William Bartek and Joseph Kobza and son, from Ulysses; Theodore Rerucha and Emil Pavel, from Abie; R. E. Novacek and son and Milo Novacek, from Edholm; Joseph Sobolik and Fred Kobza, from Schuyler; J. A. Proskovec, from Omaha; Frank Ostry and Charles Vlasek and daughter, Miss Agnes, from Prague.
