He was born February 28, 1860, in Tuscarawas County, Ohio, the son of Michael and Elizabeth Winsler. Winsler, 87, one of Appanoose County's oldest residents, passed away at St. Joseph hospital in Centerville, Saturday, Aug. 16, 1947, where he had been a patient for the past four weeks. He was born February 28, 1860, in Tuscarawas County, Ohio, the son of Michael and Elizabeth Winsler. The parents with their five children, Zura (Mrs. John Rice), Susan (Mrs. Julius Reich), Charles, John, and Bert came to Moravia, where Mr. Winsler has been a continuous resident of this community. He was married to Rissie Hayes, who passed away in 1891, leaving two small children, Roxa and Hayes. He then married Amanda Miller. To this union four children were born, Rubye and Mary, who survive, and the other two passing away in infancy. The mother died in 1905. Mr. Winsler maintained a home for his children, always living on the land that he and his father settled. His daughter, Mary Ward, and family have lived in the home caring for him in his declining years. He was a member of the Moravia Methodist Church and was loved and respected by all who knew him. Mr. Winsler is the last of his immediate family and is survived by his three daughters, Mrs. Frank Miller of Centerville, Mrs. Ray Lewis of Des Moines, Iowa and Mrs. Norman Ward of Moravia; five grandchildren, Mrs. Nettye Wilson and Miss Betty Winsler of Evanston, Illinois, John A. Winsler of Memphis, Tenn., Mrs. Maxine Wehrle of Centerville, Iowa and Mrs. Margaret Brooks of Moravia. A daughter-in-law, Mrs. Winnie Winsler, of Evanston, Illinois, and four great-grandchildren survive. His son, Hayes Winsler, grand-daughter Mildred Miller and great-grandson, Michael A. Wehrle, recently preceded him in death. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon, August 18, at 2:30 at the Methodist Church of Moravia with the Rev. J. C. Davis officiating. Burial was in the Moravia Cemetery. Pallbearers were R. R. Pennington, Fred Hammond, Raymond Ashby, Charles Coffin, H. N. Utterback, and H. E. Glick. A male quartet composed of Forrest and James Main, Harold Mason and Zell Callen sang "Rock of Ages" and "That Beautiful Land" with Mrs. Fred Blumenstock at the piano. Among the relatives from a distance here for the services were Mr. and Mrs. Ray Lewis of Des Moines, Miss Betty Winsler, Mrs. Nettye Wilson of Evanston, Ill., Mrs. Cora Thrift of Phoenix, Ariz., Allen Miller, Mrs. Herman Dye, Mrs. and Mrs. Justice Miller, Mr. and Mrs. Perry More and Mrs. George Brain of Unionville
