Thoman JEFFERSON – John A. Thoman, 85, Hanover Street, husband of the late Ellen Miller Thoman, died this morning at the Hanover General Hospital where he was a patient for 16 days. He was a native of Codorus Township, son of the late Leander and Emma Shearer Thoman. A retired farmer, Mr. Thoman was a member of the York Gospel Center and Sunday School and the Jefferson Volunteer Fire Co. Survivors include five sons, Robert E. Thoman, 3163 Skylight Drive, West York; Raymond L. Thoman, Kalamazoo, Mich.; Earl W. Thoman, Glen Rock RD 2; Kenneth R. Thoman, 860 Windsor Road, York; and Richard A. Thoman, 550 W. King St., York; a daughter, Mrs. Walter Shaffer, Seven Valleys RD 2; 30 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren, and two brothers, Leander B. Thoman, Glen Rock RD 2; and Charles Thoman, Columbia. His pastor, the Rev. Donald E. Hurlbert will officiate at funeral services at 2 p.m. Friday at the York Gospel Center, 255 Reynolds Mill Road, York. Burial will be in Jefferson Cemetery. Sauter Funeral Home, 175 N. Main St., Spring Grove, is in charge of arrangements.
