He was out doing his customary chores, and while engaged in slopping his hogs, fell to the ground near the hog pen, and expired instantly. His wife was the first to discover him, and, although she cannot positively state, thinks he had been dead about fifteen minutes before she saw him. She gave alarm to the neighbors, and the relatives of the family were sent for and arrived soon. The coroner was notified, and Dr. G.D. Rowe called, who made an examination of the deceased. Through some misunderstanding, the coroner did not arrive until nine o'clock Monday morning. A jury was then summoned, consisting of Chas. H. Smith, John Hastedt, and Solomon Shields, who, after hearing the evidence of witnesses, decided that deceased came to his death by an apoplectic fit. Mr. Adix whose untimely death the community are thus called upon to mourn, was about forty five years old. He was a native of Germany, and came to this state about twelve years ago from Wisconsin; and resided in his present location ten years; was in comfortable circumstances, and doing well. He was one of those men that "do unto others as they would that others should do unto them." He leaves a wife and five small children, the oldest nine years, the youngest fifteen months, to mourn the loss of a kind husband and an indulgent father. The funeral took place yesterday, Rev. G. Endre, the German minister of this place, conducting the services. A large procession of the friends and neighbors of the deceased followed the remains to their final resting place in the Boone cemetery.
