Mr. Huyser died Sunday night, October 11 at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Jerry (Rose) Erickson. Mr. Huyser died Sunday night, October 11 at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Jerry (Rose) Erickson. Music was furnished by Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Ryan who sang, "Jesus Lover of My Soul," and "Face to Face," accompanied by Mrs. James Scholten, Organist. Pallbearers were Wm. Huyser, James Scholten Glen Cox, Dwight Dyk, Charles Dyk, and Kenneth Cox. Burial was in Mountain View Cemetery. John A. Huyser was born September 11, 1874, in Holland, Michigan one of five children born to Mr. and Mrs. Quirinus Huyser. At an early age, he moved with his parents to Nebraska and later to Minnesota in which state he was married to Elizabeth Vork on November 25, 1903. The couple moved to Sweet Grass county in Montana in 1905, where they ranched until the death of Mrs. Huyser when Mr. Huser moved into town. Survivors include eight children, Mrs. Guy (Jessie) Scholten, Mrs. Jerry (Rose) Erickson, Howard, Gordon, and Sidney Huyser, all of Big Timber; Mrs. Truxton (Jeanette) Ross of Ventura, Calif., Mrs. Egbert (Isabelle) Dyk, and Mrs. Tony (Shirley) Molendyk, both of Manhattan; 22 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; one brother, Q. C. Huyser of Billings, and numerous nieces and nephews. An infant son, William preceded his father in death. Mr. Huyser was a familiar figure in downtown Big Timber where he could always be counted on for a friendly chat until failing health curtailed his outings. He is another one of our senior citizens whose knowledge of the good old days when Big Timber was just a youngster will be sorely missed. Contributor: Julia Kinsey (48922386) •
