| Description | : | John Agar was just a toddler when his family first migrated to Ohio. They lived there for several years before moving to Simcoe County. We believe they moved there to be closer to Ellen Cunningham Agar's family. John had stayed in Ohio with brother Thomas, but came for a visit to Canada in 1853. He fell in love with Ann Jane Irwin and they were married just three weeks later. John and Ann Jane moved to northern Huron County, buying their farm from her sister Margaret Alton and her husband.
