Description	:	John Alexander "Jack" Emig was born January 1, 1933 on the family farm near Gypsum the son of Paul and Effie (Gantenbein) Emig. Jack was a longtime area resident living in the Solomon area before moving to Ramona. He graduated from Chapman High School in 1950 and served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War as a military policeman. Jack worked for Boeing in Wichita and later farmed and was the owner of Emig Truck Line before retiring. He was a member of the Mt. Read More	John Alexander "Jack" Emig was born January 1, 1933 on the family farm near Gypsum the son of Paul and Effie (Gantenbein) Emig. Jack was a longtime area resident living in the Solomon area before moving to Ramona. He graduated from Chapman High School in 1950 and served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War as a military policeman. Jack worked for Boeing in Wichita and later farmed and was the owner of Emig Truck Line before retiring. He was a member of the Mt. Pleasant Presbyterian Church, loved raising horses, and was a member of the country band Jack Emig and the Country Blue Notes in the Wichita area. Jack is survived by his four daughters; one brother; his special friend Doris Brumly of the home in Ramona; six grandchildren; six great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a great grandson Isaiah Smith and his parents. Services for Jack will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, December 11, 2012 at the Martin-Becker-Carlson Funeral Home in Abilene with Pastor Stan Norman officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenlawn Cemetery south of Abilene with military honors provided by the Ft. Riley Honor Guard. Friends may call after 5:00 p.m. Sunday evening with the family receiving friends from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Monday evening at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Mt. Pleasant Presbyterian Church and may be sent in care of the Martin-Becker-Carlson Funeral Home, 414 NW 3rd, Abilene, Kansas 67410.
