Johnson, who passed away at his home, corner Dayton avenue and Market street, this morning at 1 o'clock. He had been a sufferer from heart trouble for a number of months and the disease had almost incapacitated him from any business, and for several weeks he had been very dangerously ill, his friends realizing that the end was gradually drawing near. Johnson, who passed away at his home, corner Dayton avenue and Market street, this morning at 1 o'clock. He had been a sufferer from heart trouble for a number of months and the disease had almost incapacitated him from any business, and for several weeks he had been very dangerously ill, his friends realizing that the end was gradually drawing near. John Alexander Johnson was born in Greene county 62 years ago and was an old resident of Bowersville and for many years an honored citizen of that town. He held the office of postmaster for eight years while a citizen of that town and also served as justice of the peace of Jefferson township, holding that office for twelve years. About eight years ago he moved to this city, and here he was again honored with the office of justice of the peace, a position that he was occupying at the time of his death. 'Squire Johnson, as he was familiarly called had come to be well known in this city. He was a member of the Disciples church at Bowersville. He is survived by a widow and six children as follows: Miss Martha, a well known teacher of the county, now being in charge of the school in Union neighborhood; Mrs. Margaret Hunt, of Mishawankee, Ind.; Mrs. Duff Brannum, of Dayton; Alonzo, Elmer and Lola, at home. The burial will be at Bowersville but the funeral arrangements have not yet been completed.
