Born in Dalzell, he was a son of the late Esau Benenhaley and Beulah Hood Benenhaley. He was a member of Longbranch Baptist Church and a retired truck driver. Surviving are his wife of Sumter; two sons, John Algie Benenhaley and Francis Marion Benenhaley and wife, Jodie, all of Sumter; five daughters, Sheila Mayberry and husband, Eddie, Lettie Applebee and husband, Danny, Pamela Holland and husband, Sandy, and Angela Witt and husband, Darrell, all of Sumter, and Dawn Luquer and husband, Anthony, of Texas; a brother, Marion Benenhaley of Sumter; a sister, Barbara Jean Truesdale of Columbia; 19 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a daughter, Debra Ann Graber and a brother and four sisters. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Longbranch Baptist Church with the Rev. Lyn Gardner officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
